Fuck you, John Winchester

Fuck you for turning a frightened little boy into a soldier

Fuck you for making your eldest son feel worthless

Fuck you for dragging your kids all over the damn country

Fuck you for being ‘Sir’ rather than ‘Dad’

Fuck you, John Winchester

HEAR HEAR!

Also, Fuck you for making your son think that going to University equalled not being a part of your family anymore.

*googles John Winchester*

OH COME ON

A reason to hate misogyny, arrogance, wealth-flaunting, Vegas, rich people and clubs, all in one video.

No dissertation, article or well considered argument could make me hate these people more than this video.

puberty blues.

My parents went to high school with Kathy Lette. In the same year.
How’s that for horrifying.
Puberty Blues was literally about them.

Today, in reasons I don’t want to work for big pharma.
This is from a Medicines Australia (industry group, 9 of the 10 biggest pharmaceuticals companies) report from 2009, openly acknowledging that they employ over seven times as many people in marketing & sales than they do in research and development.
Bonus complaint: Management & other fuckers with MBAs usually make far more than the scientists and other people doing any actual goddamn work.

Look out for an extended essay about private interests and science soon. I’m sick of this bullshit.

I wasn’t that sold on this but it’s grown on me.

It fits and complements the song, in all its warped glory.

Tripped and warped and futile. Like life.

Lovis Corinth - Odysseus in battle with the Suitors

Corinth was painting in response to what he saw as the degradation of Germany’s political landscape at the time - he formed part of the Berlin Secessionists. He painted the epic of Homer not in the stunning, idealistic and romantic style which was almost all pervasive, but human - raw and somewhat ridiculous.

So I drew this, and wholeheartedly embraced cliché

Hometown: Overheard & Written

“Dude, she totally wants you, man”

“Yeah, two shots of Bailey’s, mate”

“I’m, like, totally, sober”

Motherfucking P.I.M.P.

“I met her once, how on earth do I start a conversation?”

pretence of loving what one hates

tiresome pathetic chase

I was going to bluster my way through an autobiography someday, but someone posted this gif, and now I don’t have to.

This sums up my life better than anything I could write.

Anonymous asked: girls, you say? do tell

They are a beautiful but mythical beast, understood by few men. Famed for their beauty and incomprehensibility, I have heard tell that one conversed with them once, and even broke bread in their presence, however these are but legends.

Anonymous asked: Anything on your mind lately?

You.

Edit: Actually, friends, girls, bitchin’ ambient playlists, pharmacology, molecular biology, maths & chemistry in that order.

Anonymous asked: Regarding your last post: I suggest you look into a concept called 'dynamic system theory'. I'm not sure how much it actually explains, or whether it's merely saying that development is too complex and unexplainable, but it's interesting to look at. It's the idea that by creating environments that encourage certain behaviours, they become more ingrained and more likely to be continued (to the extent to which genetics/cell formation allows) Also the case of Phineas Gage.

I have read about that before, but thank you for this!

Hm I’m not sure if the approach is saying it’s too complex, but it’s using chaos theory to understand how insanely complex systems may be modelled by surprisingly simple precepts - as you say, ingraining behaviours. It can err on the reductionist side of things - I’ve always been persuaded by the bullish reasoning, huge data set arguments myself.

Phineas Gage is quite interesting, and something I rather personally like to read about. I suffered a pretty major head blow, with a consequential haematoma (blood build up) to the volume of around a man’s fist inside my skull. I remained conscious, talking and entirely sane (to the bamboozlement of the doctors) while it built up - and left hospital a few days later, to no ongoing ill effects. The brain is wonderful, perplexing and ridiculous instrument.
